About Us

We are Gravity{}, a system of multiple personalities sharing a body-mind.

We operate, loosely speaking, through the entity otherwise referred to (for convenience's sake in a culture which fails to expect individuals to be collectives) as Athena Abbott. We now attempt to use this name only when backwards-compatibility is required.

The curly braces we append to our system-name is a type annotation as used in programming; "{}" says: "the thing which this signifier (variable) refers to is a Set".

We work together as an artist-maker collective and our plurality naturally leads us to interrogate our topics of interest from many angles at once.

We believe strongly in the value of multi-disciplinary approaches that apply tools and concepts from otherwise siloed ways of thinking to each other.

A deep interest in cybernetics, the study of control and feedback systems, motivates much of our study; in mathematics, dynamical systems. In computer science, hypertext structures. Our creative work is oft motivated by the visualization of these abstract structures in tactile and experiential forms as well as expressing our close personal experience with them, in mediums as diverse as graphic novels, sculpture, and interactive fiction.
